Eli interviews Airman Kelly, while her consciousness is in Chloe's body, about why she volunteered to use the communication stones.
"We Volunteer To Do This" is the 23th webisode of the Stargate Universe Kino webisodes series.

Story[edit | edit source]

Eli Wallace is introducing himself to Airman Kelly, who has volunteered to use the Long-range communication stones on Earth, and is occupying Chloe Armstrong's body. This is her first time onboard Destiny and using the communication stones. One of the thoughts on her mind is how the Kino is able to float mid-air; Eli notes it has anti-gravity. Eli then changes the subject, and questions what it felt like to use the stones and end up somewhere else; he recounts that using the stones for the first time "creeped [him] out." Kelly is doing this, because she realizes there are people trapped on Destiny, and that she volunteered to give those stranded on Destiny a chance to go home and see their loved ones; in the meantime, she uses the opportunity to see what it is like on board.

Midway through the interview, Kelly tells Eli that everyone involved in the mind swapping signs a form consenting to the use of their body by another person for personal use. When Eli presses her for specific details, she adds that people do get to see their husbands, wives, boy/girlfriends, saying "that's kind of the point", and that it doesn't bother her. Eli continues to press her for what the forms say. She recalls reading about how the death of one person on either side may result in the death of the other, though Eli notes that they're not entirely sure about this.

Kelly then remembers that she is to be careful about what they do in another's body, and to not do anything that might negatively impact any relationships on board; a fragile balance. Kelly then admits that Eli is cute, which surprises him greatly; he just says that he and Chloe are just friends. In the end, Kelly asks to leave, which Eli obliges to, and thanks her for taking part in the interview.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • This is one of the rare times we see the host's body rather than the consciousness' body when there is a use of Ancient communication stone. Usually, we just have a cameo of the host's body when there is a mirror, a video screen shot by a camera or a Kino, or by someone else's prospective. This time, it's through the eye of a Kino.
  • This webisode is a sequel to "Nobody Cares".
